Warcry – The Unmade and The Cypher Lords

So as I so kindly put it in our first Warcry blog post – Warcry – The Iron Golem… Unless you have been living under a rock for the last few months you will have heard of Games Workshop’s latest offering for your tabletop…

Warhammer: Age of Sigmar – Warcry is a new skirmish game set in the world of Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Choose your warband, and fight thrilling, fast paced tactical skirmishes in one-off battles or across epic narrative campaigns where your warriors grow and develop.

Our Studio Team has been lucky enough to be given a commission by Hoist the Colours – Models & Games for 2 more warbands for Warcry, the first four is to complete was The Cypher Lords…

The Cypher Lords are a cunning Chaos Cult who make your average Tzeentch Arcanite look like a forthright pillar of honesty. Hailing from the city of Nochseed in the Realm of Light, the Cypher Lords worship Chaos in secret, combining the precision and agility common to inhabitants of Hysh with all manner of dark gifts.

Next up was the scariest of the Warcry Warbands to day, the Unmade…

Once upon a time, the Unmade were benevolent philosopher-kings renowned across the Realm of Death for their wisdom and nobility. Desperate to fight back the hordes of undead, the inhabitants of this land (a place known as Tzlid) were driven to worship the Chaos Gods – who promptly rewarded them by turning them into maniacal cultists obsessed with pain and mutilation.

Our Studio Team has been lucky enough to be given a commission by Hoist the Colours – Models & Games for the 2 warbands in the new Warcry Starter Set plus the random beasts/monsters found in the core set, the second of these Denizens of the Ruins/Chaotic Beasts that we have tackled are the Raptoryx!

To represent the Eightpoint’s varied (and violent) wildlife, many Warcry battleplan twist cards bring chaotic beasts into your battles. At launch, there are two types of chaotic beast that show up in your games – the airborne daemons known as Furies (more about these in our last blog post), and mutant avians called Raptoryx.

Hailing from the Jagged Savannah in Ghur, the Realm of Beasts, the Untamed Beasts are brutal warriors who eschew the trappings of civilisation. Capable of binding the spirits of beasts to their own through dark rituals, they possess preternatural strength and speed. Those warriors in the Eightpoints venerate Archaon as the Eater of Worlds, and long to join him in his great hunt. To them, Chaos is the Devourer of Existence – a rampaging apex predator from which there is no escape.

Burton Sci-Fi and Fantasy Con 2019

My local Games Workshop Stores (Burton and Derby) were in attendance at the Burton on Trent Sci-Fi and Fantasy Con 2019 so we popped along to take a look…

SFFPoster-GoH

Burton Library is a great, spacious and welcoming location with a cafe on hand and I am surprised that there haven’t been more events held there to be honest.

We had Local Cosplayers in attendance including Ginger Nutz Cosplay who dressed up as a Munitorum Priest from Warhammer 40,000 as well as authors, film extras and craft stalls. Games Workshop’s James and Chris ran introductory games for Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar while talking about these emersive universes and handing out sample miniatures, a voucher for a painting lesson, invite to their Crusader Events and Samples of their new Warhammer Adventure Novels – City of Lifestone and Attack of the Necron.

HOBBY ADVENTURES – 2018 SO FAR!

Ironskull HQ is a buzz of hobby excitement as both Bex and I have decided on new Age of Sigmar projects (more on that in the next post).

Today I’d like to do a bit of a hobby roundup, a state of our hobby nation if you like…

As the Calendars were replaced and 2018 truly began so did the discussion on what we’d like to do in our hobby this year. We made some loose plans as we, like all hobbyists, are too much like magpies to make solid plans! We wanted to try out Malifaux, SAGA, Age of Sigmar.

Bex decided on The Dreamer for the Neverborn Faction and I Decided on Reva for the Resurrectionists Faction. We decided to work on these in between our larger projects.

Having done a Viking Warband for the first edition of the game I decided I’d do something a little different and go with a Byzantines Warband, Bex however decided on Vikings. We are looking forward to tackling these Armies later in the year, I however have assembled my warband…

We have also bought ourselves a new Magic the Gathering Deck each…

And have been playing a couple of great card & dice games…

In our next post we’ll show you which Age of Sigmar forces we chose and our progress so far, so until the next post… HAPPY GAMING! – Iron Jarl
