So as I so kindly put it in our first Warcry blog post – Warcry – The Iron Golem… Unless you have been living under a rock for the last few months you will have heard of Games Workshop’s latest offering for your tabletop…

Warhammer: Age of Sigmar – Warcry is a new skirmish game set in the world of Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Choose your warband, and fight thrilling, fast paced tactical skirmishes in one-off battles or across epic narrative campaigns where your warriors grow and develop.

Our Studio Team has been lucky enough to be given a commission by Hoist the Colours – Models & Games for the 2 warbands in the new Warcry Starter Set, the second to be completed by our team is the Untamed Beasts…

Hailing from the Jagged Savannah in Ghur, the Realm of Beasts, the Untamed Beasts are brutal warriors who eschew the trappings of civilisation. Capable of binding the spirits of beasts to their own through dark rituals, they possess preternatural strength and speed. Those warriors in the Eightpoints venerate Archaon as the Eater of Worlds, and long to join him in his great hunt. To them, Chaos is the Devourer of Existence – a rampaging apex predator from which there is no escape.

πŸ’€ Iron Within, Iron Without! – Rise of the Iron Warriors

So having sat down with the absolutely enormous box from Hoist the Colours – Models and Games I quickly realised that with 30 heretic astartes I needed some transport and a a hobbyist of some time I have many a box in the pile of shame/mountain of hobby and so I pulled out a rhino to transport some of the lucky Chaos Space Marines to the battlefield!

So this pile of hobby will soon be an Iron Warriors Army… But first a couple of quick conversions NOT in the current pledge…

The Iron Golems hail from the Ferrium Mountains in Chamon, the Realm of Metal, where they harness raging magma-flows to forge their brutal weapons and armour. Those fighting in the Eightpoints hope to prove themselves to Archaon, aspiring to one day provide arms for his endless hordes.

Apocalypse Unleashed – Hoist the Colours

Hi, I’m the Iron Jarl at Ironskull Gaming. I was asked to join in a fun little Tale of 4 Gamers activity at my FLGS where we all would delve into a bit of Apocalypse fun with the launch of the new rule set by Games Workshop.

An avid fan of Warhammer 40,000 (40k) I usually do the loyalist forces so decided that I would go heretic and do a Chaos force.

Picking up a Chaos Detachment set from Hoist the Colours Games I just needed to decide what Legion I would do. I decided on Iron Warriors, firstly to pay homage to a project my Brother did in the early to mid 90’s which I thought was super cool, inspirational work by Christian Byrne in his Will of Iron series of White Dwarf articles and because of a good friend and ex-colleague Matt’s stunning 30k Iron Warriors army.

Vulkan: Son of Nocturne

Our Studio Team have completed another Primarch Commission, This time it is the Horus Heresy Vulkan Model that we are proud to showcase!

Primarch of the Salamanders Legion, Vulkan is a Perpetual making him essentially immortal. His homeworld of Nocturne suffered many raids from Drukhari Fleets which helped to hone him into the warrior leader of the Legion of Nocturne!

This commission has been completed to Advanced Level…

Display Miniatures/Dioramas

Most collectors in this hobby like to proudly display some of their army or favourite characters, the only thing is when they stand on a 32mm base they can often get lost in the background. HOBBY ADVENTURES – 2018 SO FAR!

Ironskull HQ is a buzz of hobby excitement as both Bex and I have decided on new Age of Sigmar projects (more on that in the next post).

Today I’d like to do a bit of a hobby roundup, a state of our hobby nation if you like…

As the Calendars were replaced and 2018 truly began so did the discussion on what we’d like to do in our hobby this year. We made some loose plans as we, like all hobbyists, are too much like magpies to make solid plans! We wanted to try out Malifaux, SAGA, Age of Sigmar.

Bex decided on The Dreamer for the Neverborn Faction and I Decided on Reva for the Resurrectionists Faction. We decided to work on these in between our larger projects.

Having done a Viking Warband for the first edition of the game I decided I’d do something a little different and go with a Byzantines Warband, Bex however decided on Vikings. We are looking forward to tackling these Armies later in the year, I however have assembled my warband…

We have also bought ourselves a new Magic the Gathering Deck each…

And have been playing a couple of great card & dice games…
